Ireland’s transition to renewable energy is accelerating in every corner of the land. At the heart of this exciting journey is SEAI, which manages the National Retrofit Plan by facilitating thousands of home energy upgrades each year, including the installation of heat pumps and other vital energy-saving measures.
By the end of quarter three last year, a total of 2,737 heat pumps had been installed in homes across Ireland – an increase of 131% over the corresponding period in 2022 – and that figure is likely to be comfortable outstripped again this year as homeowners move away from fossil fuels (oil or gas boilers) in favour of clean, green energy.
Of course, it’s not only homeowners who are switching to renewable energy heat pumps, but businesses too. This month, we’ll be at the SEAI Energy Show, Ireland’s most important B2B sustainable energy event, which takes place from 20-21 March at the RDS in Dublin. If you’re one of the 4,000+ people attending the show, here’s why you should visit our stand:
1. Discover the latest technology
Did you know? Heat pumps have been around for almost half a century, but it’s only in the last few years that their popularity and usage has skyrocketed. As our engineers focus on making the technology even better, improvements in the key components of heat pumps continue to boost their efficiency and performance – especially in cold weather.
Leading the way in Ireland’s heat pump market is the best-selling, award-winning Daikin Altherma range. These air-to-water and air-to-air heat pumps represent the most energy-efficient solutions for heating, cooling and hot water, depending on what you need. And best of all, they are powered by renewable energy (air) and work very well with solar PV to drive down energy bills.
We’ll be showing how a heat pump works with a demo model at the Daikin stand during the SEAI Energy Show, so make sure you drop by with any questions you have.
You can also find out more about our all-conquering Altherma range here.

2. Explore your funding options
For homeowners in particular, cost is a key factor when considering a heat pump and the long-term benefits are indisputable. Fortunately, there are a range of grants and funding options available through SEAI, which you’ll need to understand before you start your journey.
For businesses, SEAI offers a support scheme that provides funding to help businesses move to renewable heating, including commercial heat pump installation.
For homeowners, the two main grant schemes are Individual Energy Upgrade Grants, which can go towards a series of individual energy-saving measures (e.g. heat pump, solar PV, attic/wall insulation), and the One Stop Shop, which as the name suggests is designed for complete upgrades that bring a property to a BER B2 or better. Applying for funding can be complicated – but we’re here to help.
3. See why heat pumps are ideal for Irish homes and businesses
One of the big misconceptions about heat pumps is that they struggle in the cold. This is a myth – in fact, heat pumps are very popular in countries that are even colder than Ireland. In Norway, for example, where temperatures regularly plunge below -30°C, around two-thirds of all households rely on a heat pump.
Daikin heat pumps are engineered here in Europe (at our EMEA development centre in Belgium) for European homes and businesses, so you know they are suitable for Irish winters. No matter how cold it gets, our machines continue to extract energy from the outside air to provide a steady, dependable level of comfort.

4. Find out why heat pumps are so sustainable
Just like SEAI, we are committed to helping Ireland embrace clean energy for a more sustainable future. We do that by providing Irish homes, businesses and industries with the most efficient solutions for heating and cooling – all in accordance with the green principles that are at the heart of everything we do.
Our heat pumps use far less electricity than traditional systems, so they are not only highly energy-efficient but also economical because they cost less to run. For every 1kW of electricity used, a Daikin heat pump generates 4kW of renewable energy from the outside air – that’s sustainability in action.

5. Meet the Daikin team
The Daikin team that will be manning our stand at the SEAI Energy Show is just one part of a very large network that includes our Dublin technical and support centre, our network of installer partners and suppliers around the country, and of course the global Daikin family with more than 10,000 employees across 50 EMEA countries.
What does that mean for you?
More than anything, it means speedy, reliable, reassuring service – not just expert maintenance to keep your heat pump running smoothly all year round, but replacement technology that’s readily available here in Ireland in case anything goes wrong. After all, we’re responsible for keeping people warm and comfortable and that’s as important as it gets.
Enjoy the show and do drop by if you’ve any questions about heat pumps – we’d love to chat. For more information about heat pumps view our Daikin Delves In series and download our brochures below.
